In this lesson, students will learn the meanings of common English idioms. Idioms is a course that fosters English as a Second Language learners’ comprehension of common idioms used in the English language. Students will be engaged in an interactive process as they learn to read and interpret idioms. Students will learn through repetition and will be given an assessment to gauge learning at the end of the class. Students will receive direct instruction, guided practice and independent practice. It will include specific guidance on grammar issues, vocabulary growth, pronunciation and intonation. In your first session we will discuss your language needs in order that I can design a programme to help you in the areas in which you need to make improvement. For this programme I recommend that you take 2 blocks of 30 minutes together, to allow enough time to work on a topic. Two blocks of 30 minutes will be organised in one of the following ways depending on your needs: 1. 15 minutes speaking practice 20 minutes topic learning 20 minutes topic practise 5 minutes review 2. 15 minutes speaking practise 20 minutes homework review 20 minutes topic practise 5 minutes review
